Corporate Wellness Strategy

Corporate Wellness ProgramsFitNut provides design and implementation of “hands-on” corporate wellness programs for small to medium enterprise. We work directly with companies of varying sizes and industries to help them avoid workman’s compensation claims, retain valuable employees, reduce the impact of rising health insurance costs, and take advantage of wellness tax breaks. Through customization and scalability, our programs reach a broader audience in private and government work place environments. Our programs are built on three vital elements:

Our programs are built with standardized processes and Project Management practices tailored to fit each organizations needs. Our programs offer flexibility and proven methods that produce results. Below are descriptions of our program components:

Basic Employer Assessment

A FitNut Corporate Wellness Program Evaluation gives your wellness program the best opportunity for success.  Our program is ideal for small, medium and large companies who are either looking for ways to improve existing wellness programs, or are looking to start a new wellness program. Our basic assessment looks at how the existing company culture and environment will support a wellness program.  Assessment components include:

  • Workplace environment – stairs, areas to walk, proximity to a gym, showers, break areas out of doors, designated smoking areas, etc.
  • Food environment – vending machines, commissary, area restaurants, break room facilities
  • Worksite Culture – Policies regarding breaks and exercise.
  • Health Benefits – identify company provided health benefits and existing incentive and wellness programs
  • Written Analysis Report, Including ScoreFit TM report
  • Consultation to Review Findings

For a more comprehensive review of your company’s wellness aptitude, FitNut offers an extended evaluation providing the same basic information PLUS the subjective insight that illuminates both barriers to change and risks.

  • Select Employee Interviews – FitNut will interview a predetermined list of employees in order to identify how the employees view the company culture around health and exercise in addition to employee proximity to health facilities away from the work site
  • Risk Assessment
  • Gap Analysis – ‘as is’ and ‘to be’

The written analysis in the extended evaluation reflects the additional detail for a more comprehensive view of the company wellness culture.

Health Committee Facilitation

The Health Committee is integral to the success of the employee wellness program implementation. This group meets with the Program Coordinator to discuss status, plan event implementation, and monitor participation trends. The Program Coordinator serves as advisor and facilitator to optimize the time investment from Health Committee members in addition to grooming the committee to become self-sustaining. The Program Coordinator is responsible for identifying community resources available within the region. These resources can include businesses such as local gyms, farmer’s markets, and weight loss clinics. Resources can also be local support organizations, and online tools.

Employee Baseline Assessment

This assessment is focused on the employee and can be used as a tool for both the employer and employee to monitor the success of the program.  Baseline measurements are taken to determine the starting point for several key health areas:

  • Lifestyle and Needs Survey – Electronic

Weight Management Biometric Tests

  • A1C
  • Total Cholesterol
  • Body Fat Composition
  • BMI
  • Blood Pressure
  • Weight

Extended Biometric Tests

  • Lipid Panel (measures Total Cholesterol, HDL, Triglycerides, and calculates LDL and TC/HDL ratio)

Program Action Plan

All successful programs have one thing in common: strong planning and organization right from the start. FitNut is a project management based wellness company. All of our projects begin and are run around a strong project plan. Because wellness is about movement and changing behaviors we call our project plans Action Plans. The Action Plan is the foundation and the road map for the wellness program. It details the interests of the organization, health committee members, program selection, program goals and most important the schedule. The Action Plan is a living document that outlines program objectives, features, and timelines. Within the action plan, we propose dividing the program into three phases that will allow timely assessment of program goals.

Communication Plan Creation and Implementation

FitNut believes that proactive communication is essential for the success of a wellness program. The Program Coordinator creates a plan that will make sure Health Committee members, managers, and employees are always kept in the loop on their Wellness Plan. The Program Coordinator works with the Health Committee to plan the media and communication schedule best suited to the employer in terms of efficiency and effectiveness. Effective communication means that information is provided in the right format, at the right time, and with the right impact. Efficient communication means that FitNut is providing the information that is needed in a timely and comprehensive manner. FitNut utilizes a variety of media types including: e-mails, posters, social media, video, and word of mouth.

Program Coordination

Another critical part of a successful wellness program is effective scheduling and communication. The FitNut Program Coordinator will make sure that all events both internal and external community events are scheduled and the schedule is communicated to the rest of the organization. The Program Coordinator also reports the status of key risk factor challenges, interventions, successes and measurements to the Health Committee.

Monthly Intervention Programming

Interventions and campaigns are regularly evaluated for achieving outcome measures and participation. Some programs are implemented throughout the duration of the wellness contract; others operate on shorter time designations. This component allows for offering new programs throughout the wellness contract in addition to making necessary adjustments when programs do not have desired participation.

Education Lectures – Monthly

Wellness education delivered on-site or through webinar, YouTube, or other electronic media. Included fitness education, nutrition lectures, and stress management workshops. See our Education page for a full listing of our lectures.

On-line Wellness Tools

We match our on-line tools to the needs of the client. Our on-line tools can include Food journals, fitness journals, ‘Ask a Trainer’, exercise data download, and training plans. Our on-line programs are available through internet portal or cloud server.

Semi-Annual Outcome Assessment

A FitNut Outcome Assessment of the Corporate Wellness Program allows for progress measures throughout the year. The Semi-Annual assessment is measured against the Baseline Assessment for timely metrics of health effect and program impact. The semi-annual assessment can include:
